SLO is a publication initiative of The Justice and Development Initiative created to provide a space for thoughtful engagement with legal issues and development relevant to Somalia. The newsletter aims to contribute to informed discussion on law by offering commentary and analysis on emerging legal questions, legislative developments, judicial decisions and broader matters affecting legal institutions and the administration of justice. The publication also seeks to foster dialogue within Somalia’s legal community by providing a platform for legal practitioners, researchers, scholars and students to share perspectives on contemporary legal issues. At the same time, by presenting legal ideas and developments in a clear and accessible manner, SLO hopes to encourage wider engagement with legal debates and to promote a deeper public understanding of the role of law in Somali society.
